How do you think you would react to the Dead walking around in your city?
Well, I don’t actually live in a city. There’s not much for them to walk around in, lol. Ok, that aside, if I encountered the Dead... I would probably *try* to use my karate skills. I only have a yellow belt, so it’s not much, but I know basic stuff. Also, I almost always wear heels, so running wouldn’t be a good option. And, um... aim for the knees, right? That should be easy to do—high heels for more impact! BOOM.
What was your first impression of Daniel Sheridan?
Daniel.... oh, Daniel! He sure is one of my favourite characters ever. He is just so... annoying and sexy at the same time. If I were to meet anyone similar to Daniel, I’d probably have to resist the urge to smack them in the face (preferably with a chair) or kiss them.
Were you surprised at who was behind the sudden zombie uprising?
I think Susan did a good job of letting me think it was the necromancer—not connected to Eleanor’s brother! Near the end, I did get something was off, and I suspected him, but definitely not from the beginning.
Who is your favourite character in the first book and why?
Tough choice—I really like all of them. Each one is so unique! But I like to see character growth in a book, and for that reason I’m choosing Eleanor. When you finish reading the first book and you look back, take in the journey she’s made... it’s incredible. She comes from such a different background than Daniel, or Jie, or anyone else, and she has to take really big steps to get where she is at the end of the book. Courage, bravery, loyalty... that’s what I like, and Eleanor has it.
Favourite Something Strange & Deadly quotes
“My daughter’s biggest vices are curiosity and a fondness for buttered toast.”
This just made me laugh. Not because of the way it’s said, but because Susan always gives something unique to a character. Curiosity is something a lot of people/characters have. A fondness for buttered toast? Not so much.
“Miss Fitt, you know curiosity gets men killed.”
I grinned. “Then I daresay it’s good I’m a woman.”
This one. This one. It’s enough to make me smile every single time, no matter what my mood is.
“And if you ever get in my way, I’ll personally feed you to my mother.”
HA! Two words: well said.
“How could I dream when I could act instead?”
Words any brave heroine has to keep in mind!
“Miss Fitt? Miss Fitt? I’m a misfit, Mama - that’s what I am!”
I really, really, loved how Susan came up with this word twist. Miss Eleanor Fitt. Miss Fit. Misfit. <3
